Kedarnath, Badrinath and Yamunotri Tour Overview

The Char Dham Yatra Tour is one of the most sacred and spiritually significant pilgrimages in Hinduism, undertaken in the majestic Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. The yatra covers four holy shrines—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath—each dedicated to different deities and set amidst breathtaking Himalayan landscapes. It is believed that completing the Char Dham Yatra washes away sins and leads to spiritual liberation.

The journey usually begins from Haridwar, Rishikesh, or Dehradun and takes 10–12 days, depending on the itinerary and travel mode. Yamunotri and Gangotri mark the sources of the sacred Yamuna and Ganga rivers, while Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, sits at an altitude of over 3,500 meters. Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, lies between the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges and is known for its divine atmosphere and hot springs.
The Char Dham Yatra is not only a spiritual journey but also a scenic adventure, passing through river valleys, dense forests, high mountain passes, and traditional Himalayan towns. Today, improved roads, helicopter services, and accommodation options have made the yatra accessible to pilgrims of all ages.
Overall, the Char Dham Yatra Tour is a deeply transformative experience, blending faith, devotion, and the awe-inspiring beauty of the Himalayas.

Kedarnath, Badrinath and Yamunotri Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Barkot is the first major stop on the Char Dham route. The journey is long and scenic, providing spiritual immersion as you follow the holy river. Settle into the accommodation in Barkot and prepare for the next day's journey to the first of the four sacred shrines, Yamunotri.
Day 2
Yamunotri, the source of the Yamuna River, is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. The trek is challenging but deeply rewarding, culminating at the temple and the hot water springs, where pilgrims cook rice. After darshan, trek back down to Janki Chatti and drive back to Barkot for the overnight stay.
Day 3
Uttarkashi, situated on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, is a major pilgrimage center. Check into the hotel and visit the Vishwanath Temple, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Uttarakhand, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Spend the evening exploring the serene town and preparing for the visit to Gangotri.
Day 4
Gangotri is the source of the Ganges (Bhagirathi). Perform rituals and darshan at the temple. The sheer beauty of the location, set against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks, is awe-inspiring. Spend time by the Bhagirathi River before commencing the return journey and overnight stay in Uttarkashi.
Day 5
This is a very long travel day, transitioning from the Gangotri valley to the Kedarnath valley. The road passes through Tehri Dam and Rudraprayag, following the Mandakini River. The evening is spent relaxing at the guesthouse in Guptkashi or Sitapur, acclimatizing, and preparing for the Kedarnath trek.
Day 6
This challenging trek follows a defined trail to the high-altitude Kedarnath temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva. The trail offers continuous views of the surrounding mountains and Mandakini Valley. Arrive at Kedarnath, check into the accommodation, and attend the evening aarti.
Day 7
Early morning visit to Kedarnath Temple for darshan. Spend the morning at this deeply spiritual location, surrounded by massive, snow-capped peaks. After breakfast, begin the descent trek back from Kedarnath to Gaurikund (16 km). Drive from Gaurikund to Guptkashi/Sitapur for the overnight stay, celebrating the completion of this strenuous pilgrimage leg.
Day 8
The road to Badrinath is dramatic, passing through Joshimath and the Valley of Flowers road junction. Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is set between the Nar and Narayan peaks. Check into your hotel, and in the evening, visit the Badrinath Temple for the evening aarti and a dip in the Tapt Kund hot springs.
Day 9
Morning visit to Badrinath Temple and an excursion to Mana Village. Mana is the 'last Indian village' before the border with Tibet/China, famous for being the mythological spot where Ved Vyasa wrote the Mahabharata. Visit Vyas Gufa and Ganesh Gufa. After exploring, drive back from Badrinath to Rudraprayag (6 hours) for the overnight stay.
Day 10
The final journey takes you through the beautiful confluence point of Rudraprayag (Alaknanda and Mandakini) and Devprayag (Alaknanda and Bhagirathi). The tour concludes upon dropping you off at the railway station or airport in Haridwar or Rishikesh, completing the sacred Char Dham Yatra.
