Garhwal and Uttarkashi Tour Overview

The Har Ki Dun Trek, often called the Valley of Gods, is a classic Himalayan trek located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Nestled at an altitude of about 3,500 meters, this beautiful cradle-shaped valley is surrounded by snow-covered peaks, alpine meadows, dense forests, and glacial streams. The trek begins from the charming village of Sankri, a popular trekking hub in the region.

Covering approximately 44–50 km over 6–7 days, the Har Ki Dun Trek is classified as moderate, making it suitable for beginners with good fitness and experienced trekkers alike. The trail follows the Supin and Tons rivers, passing through remote villages such as Taluka, Osla, and Seema, where traditional wooden houses and ancient temples reflect the rich culture of the Himalayas.

The trek holds strong mythological significance, as it is believed to be part of the route taken by the Pandavas on their ascent to heaven. Trekkers are rewarded with stunning views of peaks like Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak, along with diverse flora and fauna.

Combining scenic beauty, cultural heritage, and spiritual charm, the Har Ki Dun Trek offers a peaceful and unforgettable Himalayan experience.

Garhwal and Uttarkashi Tour Itinerary

Day 1
This long, beautiful drive is the starting leg of the journey, winding through the Yamuna and Tons valleys. Witness the transition from the plains to the mountains as you reach the quaint, traditional village of Sankri, the base camp. Settle into the guesthouse, meet your trekking team, and prepare your gear for the upcoming week.
Day 2
The trail from Taluka follows the Supin River, passing through dense forests of deodar and bamboo and charming villages like Gangad and Osla. The architecture in Osla is famous for its unique wooden carvings. Set up camp in Seema/Osla, situated at the edge of the forest.
Day 3
Today's ascent is gradual, offering breathtaking views of the Swargarohini Peak and the lush green or snow-covered valley. The trail is dotted with patches of rhododendron, and you'll cross the confluence of the Rupin and Supin rivers. Arrive at the Har Ki Dun campsite, an amphitheater of meadows and peaks, for a glorious overnight stay.
Day 4
Exploration Day at Har Ki Dun Valley. Spend the day exploring the beautiful surroundings, with optional short treks to Jaundhar Glacier or Maninda Tal for even more panoramic views. Har Ki Dun is often called the "Valley of Gods" due to its mythological significance. Capture the stunning landscape, with peaks like Black Peak and Bandarpoonch dominating the skyline.
Day 5
Begin the return journey by trekking from Har Ki Dun back to the Kalkattiyadhar campsite (approx. 9 km). The descent offers new perspectives on the valley you climbed through. Kalkattiyadhar is known for its excellent viewpoints, providing a fantastic last overnight camp with clear, unobstructed views of the sunset over the Swargarohini group of mountains.
Day 6
Trek from Kalkattiyadhar to Taluka (around 14 km) and then take a short drive back to Sankri. The trail is mostly downhill and passes through thick, vibrant forests and streams. Arrive back in Sankri, check into the guesthouse, and enjoy a well-deserved hot meal and the comfort of the base village after a successful week in the remote mountains.
Day 7
Drive from Sankri back to Dehradun (7-8 hours). After breakfast, board the vehicle for the long, scenic drive back.
