Kullu, Manali and Kasol Tour Overview

The Pin Parvati Pass Trek – The Crossover (10 Days) is one of the most dramatic and rewarding high-altitude treks in the Indian Himalayas. This iconic crossover trek connects the lush Parvati Valley in Himachal Pradesh with the stark, cold desert landscape of the Pin Valley in Spiti, crossing the mighty Pin Parvati Pass at approximately 5,319 meters.
Over 10 days, trekkers journey through dense pine forests, alpine meadows, glacial valleys, and rugged moraines, witnessing a striking transition in terrain and culture. The trek offers stunning views of snow-clad peaks, massive glaciers, and remote Himalayan villages untouched by modern life. Due to high altitude, long trekking days, and challenging sections, this expedition is best suited for experienced trekkers.
The package includes expert trek leaders, safety gear, camping equipment, and nutritious meals to ensure a safe and well-managed adventure. The Pin Parvati Pass Trek is a true test of endurance, offering unmatched adventure, raw Himalayan beauty, and a lifetime trekking achievement.

Kullu, Manali and Kasol Tour Itinerary

Day 1
The journey begins with a long drive to the beautiful Parvati Valley, passing through Bhuntar and Manikaran (famous for its hot springs). From the road-head at Barsheni, a steady, popular ascent through lush forests leads to Khir Ganga, where you can relax your muscles in the natural hot spring before camping for the night.
Day 2
Leaving the popular campsite behind, the trail ascends gradually through dense birch and pine forests. The valley begins to widen, and the landscape transforms into charming alpine meadows dotted with wildflowers (in summer). Tunda Bhuj is a picturesque campsite providing open views of the surrounding peaks and the roaring Parvati River.
Day 3
Today is a relatively shorter day, primarily following the river valley as it narrows, allowing for gradual acclimatization. The trail involves crossing a few side streams and navigating some rocky sections. Thakur Kuan is a vast pastureland campsite situated right next to the Parvati River, offering a true sense of high Himalayan wilderness.
Day 4
The trek continues along the river, crossing the famous Pandu Pul—a massive natural rock bridge spanning the Parvati River. Afterward, there is a short, sharp climb that opens up into the expansive meadows of Odi Thach. This campsite provides impressive views of the Kullu Eiger and is often a spot for Bakarwal shepherds' encampments.
Day 5
A moderate day of walking takes you deeper into the head of the Parvati Valley. The scenery changes as you leave the lush meadows for a rockier, high-alpine environment. Mantalai is a sacred lake and the true source of the Parvati River. This quiet, high-altitude spot serves as the base camp before the final, remote ascent to the pass.
Day 6
Today is focused on gaining altitude and traversing moraine and loose rocks toward the foot of the glacier. This section is challenging and requires careful navigation across the rugged terrain of the high Himalayas. The Pin Parvati Base Camp is a cold, exposed campsite high up in the mountains, crucial for an early start tomorrow.
Day 7
This is the most challenging day: an early start to ascend the glaciated Pin Parvati Pass. The pass itself is a vast, icy expanse requiring ropes and ice axes (seasonal). The descent is steep and marks a dramatic transition from the green Parvati Valley to the stark, arid, cold desert landscapes of the Pin Valley in Spiti.
Day 8
A rewarding, easy downhill walk through the upper Pin Valley, offering the first taste of Spiti's unique geology. The landscape is dominated by colorful sedimentary rocks and harsh desert mountains, a striking contrast to the lush Parvati side. Tiya is a remote but pleasant high-altitude campsite, often with views of the vast, silent valley.
Day 9
The final leg of the trek is an easy, downhill walk following the Pin River to Mudh, the last inhabited village in the Pin Valley. From Mudh, a vehicle takes you on a short, scenic drive through the heart of Spiti's desert mountains to Kaza, the regional headquarters, where you can enjoy a comfortable guesthouse stay and a warm meal.
Day 10
Drive over the famous Kunzum and Rohtang Passes (seasonal) back towards Manali, or choose to explore the rest of the Spiti Valley, including villages like Ki, Langza, and Komik, before heading out. This long, epic drive provides spectacular final views of the cold desert and the Kullu Valley, concluding the major crossover trek.
